The Minami Tamaki LLP law firm in San Francisco is donating $20,000 to CAPA21 as part of a matching campaign where all donations through the end of June will be matched dollar for dollar. Another $5,000 donation is from managing partner Donald K. Tamaki, who has already donated $10,000 to date.
Every dollar you donate today will be matched 100%!
CAPA21 expresses its deep appreciation to firm partners Don Tamaki, Minette Kwok, Mark Fong, Sean Tamura Sato, Olivia S. Lee, and Suhi Koizumi for the generous donation.
Minami Tamaki was established in 1974 by Dale Minami (CAPA21 President) and others during a time of widespread discrimination against attorneys of color, including Asian American attorneys. Don joined the firm partnership in 1983 and the firm became Minami Tamaki LLP.
Today, Minami Tamaki is one of the preeminent Asian American-owned law firms in the country, with its attorneys recognized with some of the highest accolades in the legal profession and in the Asian American community. The firm serves clients in diverse areas of the law, including immigration and nationality law, consumer and employee rights, personal injury, and business and nonprofit counseling.
CAPA21 Chair Glen S. Fukushima and everyone at CAPA21 again expresses its gratitude to Minami Tamaki LLP and Don Tamaki for supporting our efforts to #TakeItBack2020!
Every dollar you donate today will be matched 100%! If we are able to raise additional funds over and above the $250,000 we have already generated, we can engage in additional races to hold on to the House and to win back the Senate!
Please help us to defeat Trump and the existential threat he poses to our democracy by making a donation in whatever amount you can afford.
Thanks to a $125,000 match from CAPA21 Chair Glen S. Fukushima and more than $125,000 from dozens of donors, we exceeded our original $250,000 campaign goal.
We must make every effort to ensure Trump is not re-elected and that Democrats keep control of the House and win back control of the Senate. To this end, we need to turn out more AAPI voters and ensure that the voices of AAPIs are heard in the upcoming elections.
We will focus our donations on the following: former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee for President; independent expenditures opposing Trump; competitive Democratic candidates in swing Senate and House races; and voter registration and get-out-the-vote activities focused on AAPIs.
CAPA21 is budgeting $100,000 for independent expenditures in the presidential race and various ground efforts, including AAPI voter engagement and GOTV.
Please share this message on social media and forward it to your contacts, asking them to support our #TakeItBack2020 campaign by making a donation and by spreading the word.
The elections of November 3, 2020 are the most consequential in our lifetime. The soul of America and our standing in the world are at stake. We must act to ensure that our collective struggle for equality and racial, social, and economic justice will be heard and that we elect as our representatives leaders who, for the sake of our nation and our children and grandchildren, will promote these American values and ideals that we hold so dear.
Thank you again for your valuable support!
Glen S. Fukushima, Chair
Dale Minami, President
