Leadership Council Co-Chair
Dilawar Syed is a technology entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley, and has built and led global organizations in various leadership roles. Through out his career, Dilawar has remained active in a range of civic efforts. In 2010, President Obama appointed Dilawar to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
As a member of the commission, Dilawar drove engagement with AAPI entrepreneurs across the country on behalf of the White House and engaged small businesses on initiatives including access to capital, patent reform, open data and Health IT, skilled workers immigration and public-private partnerships.
Dilawar was a surrogate in President Obama’s 2012 campaign, and served as a member of Obama for America’s 2008 National Finance Committee. He was a member of California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ Policy Transition team; and in 2008 served as National Co-Chair of the DNC’s South Asian Leadership Council as an appointee of Gov. Howard Dean.
Dilawar is president of entrepreneurship non-profit OPEN Global. He holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
