We’re donating $30,000 to empower Asian American voters

CAPA21 is donating $30,000 to four groups fighting on behalf of Asian American voters as part of our #TakeItBack2020 campaign: APIAVote, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Georgia Advancing Progress PAC, and Asian Americans Against Trump. We also donated $15,000 to the Biden Victory Fund.

Asian Americans Against Trump ($5,000) – to support targeting swing states where Asian American voters can make a difference, such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, and Georgia. In many of these states, the Asian American electorate is larger than Trump’s 2016 margin of victory.

APIAVote ($10,000) – to support expanding the AAPI electorate through voter registration, education and get out the vote activities. APIAVote’s recent AAPI Presidential Town Hall reached 800,000+ views as former Vice President Joe Biden and Trump Surrogate and former Guam governor Eddie Baza Calvo addressed issues like healthcare, diversity and immigration to the AAPI community. Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance ($10,000) – to support APALA’s “Every Vote Counts” campaign connecting with AAPI community leaders to become participants in the political process. The campaign furthers APALA’s mission by supporting AAPI involvement in electoral and issue campaigns at the local, state, and national level.

Georgia Advancing Progress PAC ($5,000) – to support efforts to mobilize AAPI voters in Georgia, by improving communications, especially in-language. In Georgia, more than 40 percent of limited English proficiency individuals speak an AAPI language. And because they speak dozens of languages, including Tagalog, Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese — advocacy groups must find translators for several languages to assist them.
